The KD Club Work XP
Theory of Change

1. The Problem (Need)

  • Traditional work experience is difficult to access, especially for Years 7–10 and SEND students.

  • Schools face increasing pressure to deliver DfE careers guidance (2025) and meet Gatsby Benchmarks but lack scalable solutions.

  • Gender stereotypes persist, many young people cannot name a female entrepreneur or see women in non-traditional roles.

  • Students lack employability skills (CVs, interviews, teamwork) and meaningful exposure to modern industries.

2. Inputs (What we invest)

  • Partnerships with local and national employers (fashion, STEM, law, construction, etc.).

  • Founder expertise and industry credibility.

  • Digital tools (worksheets, portfolio guidance, presentation and communication skills.)

  • Masterclasses, workshops + virtual workplace tours.

  • SEND-adapted resources and differentiated delivery.

  • Safeguarding, DBS-checked facilitators, and compliant policies.

3. Activities (What we do)

  • Host Live Virtual Employer Events with inspiring role models.

  • Provide Virtual Workplace Tours (industry-standardised).

  • Set Workplace Challenges (hands-on, employer-led).

  • Support students with CV building, interview practice, and reflection activities.

  • Provide schools with impact data mapped to Gatsby Benchmarks.

4. Outputs (Immediate results)

  • Each student completes 10+ hours of work experience activities in 6 months.

  • 6 industries covered with direct employer engagement.

  • All students (including SEND and AP) access meaningful and inclusive careers education.

  • Schools receive Impact Report evidencing student engagement and Gatsby alignment.

5. Outcomes (Short to medium-term changes)

  • Increased career curiosity and confidence among students.

  • Improved employability skills (CVs, interviews, teamwork, leadership).

  • Reduction in gender stereotypes through exposure to female leaders in non-traditional roles.

  • Schools meet DfE and Gatsby requirements without additional workload.

  • SEND students achieve equitable access to careers education.

6. Long-Term Impact

  • Greater equality of opportunity for students regardless of background, gender, or ability.

  • Pipeline of diverse talent entering creative, digital, STEM, and enterprise industries.

  • Schools recognised for outstanding delivery of careers education.

  • Contribution to UN Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality and national careers strategy.
