1. Our Commitment
The KD Club is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all children, young people, and families who take part in our programmes. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we will always act in the best interests of children and young people.
We believe that every child has the right to:

2. Scope of this Policy
This policy applies to:

All staff, freelancers, mentors, and volunteers working on behalf of The KD Club

All online and in-person activities, including school programmes, workshops, retreats, events, and digital learning platforms
3. Our Safeguarding Principles
We will:

Prioritise the welfare of children and young people at all times

Follow UK legislation and statutory guidance (including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children)

Work in partnership with schools, parents, carers, and safeguarding leads

Ensure staff and freelancers are DBS checked and trained in safeguarding awareness

Protect children’s data and privacy in line with GDPR

All staff, contractors, and volunteers must:

Read and follow this policy

Report safeguarding concerns immediately to the DSL

Complete safeguarding training before working with children

5. Online Safety
As The KD Club offers digital learning:

All live sessions will be supervised by an approved adult
-
No one-to-one unsupervised contact between staff and children will take place online
-
Communication with children will be via official KD Club platforms, never personal accounts
-
Children’s personal information will never be shared publicly
6. Recognising and Reporting Concerns

All concerns, disclosures, or suspicions of abuse must be reported immediately to the DSL
-
The DSL will follow local safeguarding procedures and, where necessary, make referrals to children’s social care or the police

Concerns will be recorded securely and confidentially
7. Safer Recruitment

We follow safer recruitment practices, including interviews, reference checks, and enhanced DBS checks for staff and freelancers who work directly with children

Anyone unsuitable to work with children will not be employed or engaged
8. Partnerships with Schools & Organisations

When working in schools or with external partners, we follow their safeguarding policies in addition to our own

We work with schools to ensure our programmes contribute positively to safeguarding, wellbeing, and personal development

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation, guidance, or organisational practice changes.
